Robert “Bob” J Perro Sr. peacefully passed away at home in Lincoln CA, on February 9, 2023. He was 74 years old. Bob was born on March 28, 1948 to Anthony “Shorty” Perro and Florence Morrison (nee Jackamonis) in Burlington City, New Jersey. Bob has two sisters Toni Jean Perro (Ferol Howell) and Judy Perro-Halstead. Bob is also survived by his wife of 40 years Laurie Perro (nee Leavitt), his 4 children Robert J Perro Jr. (Danielle), Marcella Perro, Kacie Rogan (Brian), and Tara Perro. Bob is also survived by his 8 grandchildren Devin, Rashad, Javon, Rae, Donato, Kellen, Kristen, Connor, and has a baby girl grandchild on the way, and his great-grandchild “Lil Dev”. He is uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, and cousin to many as well. Friend to an immeasurable amount, his presence will surely be missed.
Bob graduated from Burlington City High School, class of 1966. After graduation Bob would go on to serve his country in the Air Force (1966-1970) in Viet Nam (1969-1970) and was honorably discharged in late 1970. Bob would move to California in 1976 where he would live for the rest of his life. Over the years Bob was a successful tech support engineer with GTE, OCTEL, Cisco Systems in the heart of the Silicon Valley San Jose, CA. Bob would also spend 5 years (1980 to 1984) as a youth football coach for OGFY in south San Jose. He was a winning and championship coach. Bob would one day start his own blues band, Diamond Bob and the Alley Sneakers, that played at many venues in San Jose and Lincoln CA. Many of the
young men he coached stayed in contact with him over the years and still called him coach. Bob was most passionate about helping his fellow veterans, especially those who served in Viet Nam, get their benefits. Bob would forge new friendships by helping deserving veterans get those benefits that they thought they would never get. He never asked for anything in return, only a thank you. His passion to help veterans arose from his own battles with the effects of Agent Orange. Bob loved his friends and family deeply and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
